Three Theme-Groups

The conference focusses on three different aspect groups related to science and ethics:

Ethics and ethical rules are an important part of every scientific project to ensure a fair and humane environment. Therefore, it is necessary to teach and discuss ethical boundaries in every aspect of the scientific world. Using the various methods of leaflets, workshop group work, expert talks and discussion, we want to raise awareness and challenge the thinking of our audience.

Climate Change and Ethics

Climate change is one of the most challenging issues plaguing the world today and any climate change action confronts serious ethical issues of fairness and responsibility across individuals and countries. We will address the ethical dilemma associated with climate change while discussing individual responsibility, vulnerabilities, harmful unavoidable impacts, and ethical outcomes.

The increasing interest in geoengineering resources leaves the environment in conflict with anthropogenic influences and offers an ethical challenge to the scientist. We try to reflect these ethical challenges by discussing different aspects, such as the impact of geophysical surveys to marine life and possible precautionary measures, the concept of carbon capture and storage (CCS) in order to slow or reverse climate change and its possible effects on the environment, the meaning of sand mining for the society along with the negative impacts for the environment, and space resource endeavors in the near future.
